Yanbing Li is senior vice president and general manager of the Storage and Availability Business Unit at VMware. As a leader, Yanbing has the whole package. She is smart, articulate, strategic, and poised. Although she has an impressive academic pedigree, she values problem-solving skills and results more than classroom knowledge. Raised in China with engineer and doctor parents, she loved and excelled at STEM subjects since a young age. Yanbing came to the United States for graduate studies, and started her career as a research scientist in Silicon Valley after graduating from Princeton University with a PhD in electrical and computer engineering. She later returned to China as a VMware employee for five years. China provided a fruitful environment for her to develop and hone her leadership abilities. Now back in the United States, Yanbing is both ambitious and confident; she considers confidence an important trait to be taken seriously as a woman leader in technology.
